Woodland Park Academics

One primary goal for our students is that they learn and improve academically every day. Woodland Park Elementary adopted a Professional Learning Community (PLC) approach eight years ago. Using the Dufour’s model, teachers meet collaboratively every week to analyze student data or student work and prepare for instructional interventions and enrichments. In addition to our standard high-quality education, Woodland Park Elementary has a host of special programs in place to serve each individual student’s needs.

Our school uses formative assessments to ensure that the students are learning and retaining what is taught. Teachers regularly share student work on common tasks to discuss levels of proficiency and modification to instructional strategies when needed. In addition, students in grades K-5 all participate in several district writing and math assessments throughout the year which gives valuable feedback to the students and teachers.

We strive for 100% of our students to be proficient or advanced on the state assessment. We utilize the WY-TOPP assessment in the fall and spring to track student progress so that we have additional data in order to adjust teaching strategies or interventions based on student needs.
