Principal Letter – 3/30/2020

Hello Henry A. Coffeen Families,

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we move forward with these uncertain times. Here are some specific details to educating your child and supporting families:

  • Virtual Learning: The district is moving forward with a virtual learning model after spring break. There will not be any students physically present in buildings at this time. We are fully aware that there are limitations and challenges with the transition to virtual education. If you need support or direction, please work with your principal, Paige Sanders at paige.sanders@scsd2.com,  school counselor, Carrie Cook at carrie.cook@scsd2.com or your child’s teacher Zoom Teacher Directory
  • Calendar: Here is an overview of the next week. This schedule has been approved by the Board of Trustees.
    • Monday, March 30 – Device pick-up at HAC from 10am-12pm; as well as, breakfast and Lunch available at HAC from 10am-12:30pm daily. Please remain in your car at this time.
      • Teachers will be using this day as a virtual planning and collaboration day.
    • Tuesday, March 31 – Student/parent connection day and Virtual Open House, please check your child’s SeeSaw for more information.
    • Wednesday, April 1 – First day for district-wide virtual instruction, we ask that all students get connected and participate in a morning meeting with their classroom teacher at 9am.
  • Daily Schedule: Each teacher is developing the daily schedule for virtual instruction for what works best for your child’s online learning experience.
    • Live sessions – As a school we would like to have daily morning meeting check-ins at 9am.  In addition to the daily morning meeting we will provide additional live sessions on occasion to review work from previous classes and provide support to students.
    • Breakfast and Lunch available at HAC from 10am-12:30pm daily, please remain in your car and someone will be with you shortly.
    • Food bags available on Thursday during breakfast and Lunch pick-up from 10am-12:30pm
  • Attendance Tracking
    • For our daily morning meetings, teachers will check off students who are present.
  • Assessments:  The state assessments: WY-TOPP and WY-ALT have been cancelled; however, schools will be providing short assessments through virtual learning throughout the spring.
  • School Counselor: Your school counselor is your first line of defense for challenges with attendance, virtual learning, and social/emotional wellbeing. The best way to make contact with the counselor is through email at carrie.cook@scsd2.com
  • Tech Support: For families needing additional device, internet and tech support please contact your child’s teacher or our Media/Tech Specialist Kristine Gaskill through email at kristine.gaskill@scsd2.com

This is a team effort and we need your help and support to ensure your child is successful with our new online learning platform.  If there is anything we can do to help with this new journey we are about to embark upon please don’t hesitate to email, message or zoom as we are all in this together.

If I can help support you and your child in any way or if you have any additional questions, please feel free to email me at paige.sanders@scsd2.com and I will get back to you as soon as possible.  Thanks again for all you do and I look forward to seeing you and your child at the Virtual Open House on Tuesday, March 31st; as well as, their upcoming classroom Zoom meetings daily at 9am.

Thanks Again,

Paige Sanders
