Novel Coronavirus (COVID 19) Updates

Dear Staff, Students, & Parents,

As I shared in my email last week, our first priority is always the safety and wellbeing of students and staff. With reports of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID 19) in our community, we are working closely with state and local health officials to design an appropriate, measured response to this situation. State health officials have directly advised us to continue normal operations, and they are not recommending that parents pull students out of school.

We know there will be extensive community-wide ripple effects from any decision we make. The district is therefore taking very careful and measured steps, with the guidance of health experts, to determine an appropriate course of action to ensure the wellbeing of students and staff. This is a fluid situation, and I will be in touch over the coming days with updates.

Our state and community are all in this together. We therefore ask that all community members stay vigilant through frequent handwashing and standard sanitary precautions. Individuals exhibiting flu-like symptoms, including a fever of 100.4F or higher, should stay home.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Craig Dougherty, Superintendent
