AI in Education – Parent Information
Sheridan County School District # 2 is using artificial intelligence (AI) to support student learning, enhance teaching, and prepare our children for the future. This page provides an overview of how AI is being used responsibly and effectively in our K–12 classrooms.

What Is AI in Education?
AI in education refers to computer systems, software, processes and adaptive learning models that can support learning in personalized, adaptive, and engaging ways. These tools are designed to work alongside teachers to improve student learning, not replace them.
How AI Supports Your Child’s Learning
- AI tools can adapt lessons to fit each student’s learning pace and style.
- Some tools offer 24/7 homework help or practice exercises based on individual needs.
- AI can help students who are learning English with translation and comprehension tools.
- AI helps teachers analyze student progress and adjust instruction accordingly. Teachers will have the ability to see how students interact with AI models and create modalities to further their learning.
Your Role as a Parent
- Talk to your child about what AI tools they’re using in class.
- Encourage them to explore these tools in a safe, balanced, and ethical way.
- Contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions.
Privacy, Safety, and Data Security
We take student data privacy seriously. Any AI tools used in our district are vetted to comply with all student data protection laws and privacy guidelines. We never use AI tools that collect personal information and we verify the tools we use follow the same standards of privacy and security.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will AI replace teachers?
No. AI supports teachers by handling repetitive tasks and offering insights, allowing educators to focus more on teaching and relationship-building, while enhancing student learning.
Can AI be wrong?
Yes, AI is a tool and may occasionally provide inaccurate information or “hallucinate.” Teachers supervise its use and guide students in critical thinking, ensuring students stay “the human in the loop.” SCSD#2 strives to give access to AI tools and learning models that reduce inaccurate information.
