Virtual Learning Update from SHS
April 3, 2020
Dear SHS Parents, Guardians and Students,
On behalf of the staff and administration of Sheridan High School, we would like to thank you for your patience, understanding and support over this past week of virtual instruction. The positive feedback that has been shared is greatly appreciated. As we continue to move forward, please know any new updates will be shared with you directly and posted on the district website. Click here for the district website link.
Teachers will continue to communicate with students through their class Schoology/Google Classroom accounts as well as virtual sessions. Virtual Zoom sessions conducted by teachers could be recorded for the purpose of makeup sessions for absent students and student intervention purposes. Details pertaining to each class will be updated each Friday by teachers and posted within the previously mentioned accounts.
If your student is still in need of a Chromebook or struggling with internet access, please email email@example.com or contact the school at 672-2495 as soon as possible. During this time, your student’s school counselor is still your first line of defense for challenges with attendance, virtual learning, and social/emotional well being. The best way to make contact with your counselor is through email. Click here for counselor contact information. As an additional support to our students, the High School’s Sources of Strength Program and Student Council will be sharing information with students and parents regarding ways to support social well-being and maintaining a positive mindset during this time of virtual instruction. Our primary concern continues to be the well-being of our students and families.
The High School will continue to provide sack lunches for students each day from 10 am to 12 noon in the front entryway as well as provide prepared food bags from the Food Group.
Friday, April 10th was a previously scheduled early dismissal day due to Good Friday. As a result, teachers will be available to students until 1:15 pm this coming Friday and will return to regularly scheduled virtual sessions on Monday, April 13th.
Please know as we continue to navigate this process, the education of your student is very important to us. If you have questions or are experiencing technology issues, please do not hesitate to contact your student’s teacher, counselor or contact the school by calling 672-2495.
