Can 5 year-olds really be independent using The Daily 5 structure?
This session will begin with an overview of The Daily 5 as a component of
kindergarten reading instruction and how explicit modeling ensures
student independence. Participants will learn which kindergarten
foundational skills are necessary for students to be successful, as
well as how to teach them. Also, we will show how to blend Daily 5
components within the Balanced Literacy framework.
Megan Mohr is a Kindergarten Teacher at Henry A. Coffeen. She has a masters degree and 8 years teaching experience. Megan has taught both Kindergarten and Reading Recovery.
Melissa Condos is a Kindergarten Teacher at Henry A. Coffeen. She has a masters degree with 8 years experience. Melissa has taught Preschool, Kindergarten and Reading Recovery.
Kaylyn LIggett is a Kindergarten Teacher at Henry A. Coffeen Kindergarten. She has a Bachelors with 2 years experience. Kaylyn has worked with Preschool and Kindergarten.
