Session Description:

How do you get everything taught during a day? A quarter? A year? This session will illustrate the integration of content matter within a reading and writing framework. Using LA-CCSS, participants will learn how one PLC team implements units of study throughout the school year. Data is collected on an on-going basis, which guides instructional decisions for whole, small, and individual groupings. Theory will be connected to practice, as resources, videos, and technology applications are shared. Participants will be given the opportunity to develop a scope and sequence for the upcoming school year, leaving the session with a cohesive plan for integrating across the curriculum.

Speaker Bios:

Addrienne Sims has taught third grade in Sheridan District #2 at Meadowlark Elementary for the past seven years. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Wyoming and attained a Master’s Degree in Elementary Reading and Literacy from Walden University.

Christy Spielman is currently teaching 3rd grade in Sheridan, Wyoming. She is in her 11th year of teaching and has had experience teaching in grades 1st through 5th grade. Christy has a Bachelor’s degree in elementary education, as well as a Master’s degree in education, with an emphasis in reading and special education, from the University of Portland in Portland, Oregon.
