Donuts for Families
Sagebrush Donuts for Families Day will be February 10th, 2016. Doors will open at 7:00am and the Sagebrush PTO volunteers will be serving donuts, milk and coffee until 8:00am. Last years attendance was record breaking and the PTO is hoping for the same result this year. This event creates an opportunity for parents and families to be in the building. The PTO recognizes that many families have working parents and that it is hard to find time to visit the school. By providing an activity before school starts, we hope parents will seize the moment and connect with their students and teachers.
The Southwest Educational Development Laboratory conducted a study in 2002 titled A New Wave of Evidence (https://www.sedl.org/connections/resources/introduction.pdf) that found that students with involved parents, no matter their income or background, are more likely to:
- Earn higher grades and test scores, and enroll in higher-level programs
- Be promoted, pass their classes and earn credits
- Attend school regularly
- Have better social skills, show improved behavior and adapt well to school
- Graduate and go on to post-secondary education
As a Parent/Teacher Organization, we wanted to provide our families this opportunity to invest is your children’s futures. We are looking forward to seeing everyone here.
