Sagebrush Elementary would like to congratulate Katelynn Mohrmann and Casey and Brianna Prior (Big Horn Middle School) on their achievement at the Wyoming Destination Imagination Tournament on March 19-20 in Casper. Their team competed in a Service Learning/Project Outreach category in which they established a support group for Type 1 Diabetes. As part of their project, in February the girls held their first support group meeting and a basketball contest fundraiser. Their team was awarded 2nd place in the statewide tournament and was also awarded the Torchbearer Award for creating a solution that has extraordinary impact in and beyond their local community.
The Destination Imagination–Challenge Program is designed with open-ended challenges to enable students to learn and experience the creative process while fostering their creativity, curiosity and courage (www.destinationimagination.org). These challenges are open to groups of 2-7 students in grades Kindergarten- 12.
D.I. Challenges help bridge the gap between what students learn in school and the skills they will need to thrive in an ever-changing economy. Through the Destination Imagination Challenge Program, students improve in creative and critical thinking, explore their curiosity, build on their unique strengths, learn how to design and manage a project, and gain the skills needed for the 21st century workforce (www.destinationimagination.org/challenge-program/).
